ClientEarth is hiring a strategic legal leader to head our Financial and Economic Systems work across Europe. Based in London or Brussels, this role is your opportunity to lead impactful legal initiatives that transform how governments and markets respond to environmental and societal challenges.

As Head of Financial and Economic Systems, you will oversee a diverse and talented team of 23 legal experts and 4 team leads focused on financial regulation, trade, corporate governance, and more. You’ll set strategic priorities, shape legal direction, and deliver measurable impact through bold and systemic legal interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Co-develop and implement regional programme strategies.
• Programme Oversight: Lead high-impact initiatives aligned with ClientEarth’s mission.
• People & Financial Management: Guide team leads, manage budgets, and build internal capacity.
• External Engagement: Represent ClientEarth at the highest levels to influence public and private sector change.
• Impact-Driven Legal Work: Ensure initiatives are targeted, results-focused, and legally sound.

What We’re Looking For

• A law degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Proven senior leadership experience, including team and financial management.
• In-depth expertise in European financial or economic systems, with knowledge of local contexts.
• A strong passion for systemic environmental change through legal tools and public policy.
