Head of Business Development – Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove
Hours: 37 per week
Salary: £44,100 per annum
Location: Hybrid/Flexible – Main base at Kings Weald Community Centre, Burgess Hill, with travel to centres in Brighton, Haywards Heath, Bognor Regis, and Horsham.

Are you a commercially driven, strategic leader with a passion for community impact? Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove is seeking an ambitious Head of Business Development to drive innovation, income growth, and positive change across our services.
This is a dynamic role combining strategic oversight with hands-on leadership. You will transform Kings Weald Community Centre into a thriving hub—expanding our commercial catering and room hire offer, launching new services, and developing our customer membership platform.
You’ll lead talented teams across Catering, Marketing & Comms, and our Gym and Centre staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and customer focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow and diversify income streams from catering, room hire, and new commercial services.
- Act as Centre Manager for Kings Weald, building it into a vibrant and inclusive community hub.
- Develop and promote our membership scheme, securing strategic partnerships and building a business directory.
- Use data and insights to shape pricing, offers, and service delivery.
- Manage budgets, contracts, and supplier relationships effectively.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven track record in business development, ideally in the charity or social enterprise sector.
- Experience leading commercial teams with knowledge of catering, marketing, or membership offers.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
- Ability to think strategically while delivering hands-on results.
- A driving licence and access to a car.
