Business Development Manager
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Manages: Business Development Executive
Salary: £38,251 – £47,940 per annum (DOE)
Location: London – EC4Y 8EE (Hybrid)
Contract: Permanent, full-time (31.5 hours over 5 days)
About the Role of Business Development Manager:
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to lead strategy, drive income growth, and strengthen partnerships across the healthcare system. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on building relationships, shaping products, and identifying new revenue streams that support improvements in patient care.
You’ll work alongside the COO to design and deliver a sustainable business development strategy, oversee product development, and manage tenders and contracts. With strong account management and commercial skills, you’ll foster partnerships with UK and international organisations, opening up new opportunities that directly contribute to our mission.
You will also manage and coach a Business Development Executive, ensuring contractual obligations are met, while developing their confidence in sales and account management.
Please note: some travel, overnight stays and weekend work may be required (e.g., for conferences).
Key Responsibilities of Business Development Manager
Business Development & Strategy
- Develop and deliver a business development plan that secures sustainable funding and drives patient care improvements.
- Lead market research, product innovation, and lifecycle management.
- Support teams in expanding product portfolios and partner engagement.
Partnerships & Relationship Management
- Build and manage strong relationships with sponsors, partners, and collaborators.
- Provide excellent account management and ensure internal delivery.
- Share market insights across teams to shape strategy.
- Develop new UK and international strategic partnerships.
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and mentor the Business Development Executive.
- Support colleagues on tenders, contracts, and compliance.
- Deliver ABPI compliance advice and training across the organisation.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Oversee income streams and sales pipelines, working closely with Finance.
- Monitor, analyse and report on business performance.
- Provide regular progress updates to senior leadership and Trustees.
About You for Business Development Manager
- Strong experience in business development, sales, or fundraising.
- Proven record in achieving financial targets and pipeline management.
- Skilled in market research, product development and account management.
- Knowledge of tenders, contracts and compliance best practice.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and coaching abilities.
