About the Role
We are recruiting a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer (SIOE) to join our Digital Services (DS) Operations team. This senior technical role is key to managing and optimising our hybrid cloud infrastructure to ensure stability, security, and performance across business-critical services.
You’ll be responsible for Microsoft 365, Azure cloud, and on-premise systems, working on complex digital transformation projects while providing expert-level operational support.
Key Responsibilities of Operations Engineer
- Design, implement, and administer hybrid cloud services including IaaS, networking, backup, and telecoms.
- Manage Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Azure AD).
- Provide Tier 3 support for incidents, lead root cause analysis, and problem management.
- Maintain on-prem infrastructure including VMware, Nutanix, Cisco networks, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, PKI.
- Lead on endpoint security, compliance, and governance policies.
- Drive adoption of M365 collaboration tools to enhance productivity.
- Support digital transformation and modern workplace projects.
- Deliver project documentation, testing, and technical runbooks.
- Manage third-party vendors, ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Participate in an agreed support rota, covering 08:00–18:00 weekdays, with occasional travel and weekend work.
Skills & Experience Required for Operations Engineer
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure & M365 administration.
- Strong skills in networking (VNets, NSGs, VPN, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall).
- Advanced in Intune, Autopilot, SCCM, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive.
- Deep understanding of identity and access management (Azure AD/Entra ID, RBAC, MFA, PIM).
- Skilled in PowerShell scripting, Graph API, Logic Apps, automation.
- Experience with security compliance (DLP, sensitivity labels, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, Secure Score).
- Proven leadership in incident/problem management, digital projects, vendor management.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and project delivery skills.
Desirable Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert (MS-102)
- Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance & Identity (SC-900)
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent for operations engineer.
