About the role of PR and Communications Manager
We are seeking a Senior PR and Communications Manager to protect and enhance King’s reputation. You will lead crisis communications, provide expert advice to senior colleagues, and manage media relations to ensure our research, achievements, and strengths gain wide visibility.
This role involves creating compelling content across print, broadcast, digital, and social media. You will design and deliver impactful communications campaigns, engage internal and external stakeholders, and support flagship events that raise King’s profile nationally and internationally.
You will be a trusted advisor with excellent judgement, guiding responses to sensitive and high-profile issues while working closely with journalists, colleagues, and external partners.
This is a full-time, permanent post (35 hours per week).
About you
We are looking for someone with:
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience in media relations across print, broadcast, and digital.
- Strong background in crisis communications and reputation management.
- Excellent editorial judgement and story pitching skills.
- Ability to build strong networks and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive, enthusiastic, and solutions-focused outlook.
- Experience using data and evaluation tools to measure communication impact.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of higher education communications.
- International experience with cultural competence.
- Professional qualification in journalism, PR, or communications.
