Emergency Department Navigator – St Giles Trust
Location: Bedford Hospital & Luton & Dunstable Hospital
Contract: Fixed Term (until 31 March 2026) | Flexible Full-Time/Part-Time (some evenings/weekends)

About the Role
As an Emergency Department Navigator, you will work with young people admitted to hospital following violence or other high-risk incidents. You’ll provide holistic assessments, advocacy, and ongoing support, ensuring safe discharge and long-term access to services.
Your work will include:
- Identifying and assessing young victims of violence or those at risk of significant harm.
- Creating tailored support and risk management plans.
- Working with hospitals, social services, and community agencies to provide a joined-up response.
- Offering practical support, including housing advice, education, training and employment (ETE) opportunities, and court support.
- Reducing the risk of re-victimisation through early intervention, safeguarding, and trauma-informed care.
- Building strong partnerships with statutory and voluntary services to ensure sustainable support.
What We’re Looking For Emergency Department Navigator
- Personal or professional experience working with vulnerable young people at high risk.
- Understanding of the criminal justice system, safeguarding, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience of working as part of a multi-agency team.
- Strong interpersonal, advocacy, and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust with young people and guide them towards positive choices.
- A relevant qualification (or working towards one) is desirable.
- Enhanced DBS required (due to work with vulnerable young people).
