Legal Adviser – Legal & Enforcement Team
Location: Hybrid (Home-based with travel to Birmingham, London, or Cardiff)
Contract: 2 Permanent Roles + 1 Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover)
Salary: £53,482 – £58,830 (London weighting applies)
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours/week

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is the independent regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales. We protect the public by ensuring solicitors uphold the highest professional standards and holding those who breach regulations to account.
We’re recruiting for Legal Advisers to join our Legal & Enforcement team, which handles regulatory proceedings before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, provides legal advice to our investigation teams, and manages related litigation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead or support legal proceedings before the SDT and courts
- Provide clear, risk-based legal and regulatory advice across operational areas
- Draft formal decisions based on evidence and public interest
- Collaborate with external solicitors where appropriate
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation within the team
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified solicitor, barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (England and Wales)
- Strong litigation experience—contentious, civil, or regulatory
- Excellent legal drafting, analysis, and decision-making skills
- Understanding of regulatory processes or ability to quickly develop this knowledge

This is a hybrid role, with 1–2 office days per week (Birmingham base, with optional London or Cardiff locations). A London base includes a 10% salary weighting.
