Join HQIP as a Trustee – Lead Strategic Communications for National Healthcare Impact
Are you a senior communications, marketing, or public affairs professional who believes in the power of clarity, storytelling, and influence? This is your opportunity to make a real, national-level difference in healthcare.
The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) is seeking a Trustee with strategic communications expertise to join its Board. You’ll help amplify the voice of an organisation that empowers clinicians, providers, and policymakers to use data-driven insights to improve the quality of care across England and Wales.
About HQIP
At HQIP, our mission is simple but vital: to improve health outcomes by raising the quality of care delivered to patients.
We manage the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP) on behalf of NHS England and other partners. By commissioning audits and clinical outcome reviews, we shine a light on excellence, expose variation, and identify areas for improvement. But data alone doesn’t drive change—how we communicate it does. That’s why strategic communication is at the heart of our mission.
The Role: Trustee – Communications and Marketing Leader
As a Board Trustee, you’ll help shape HQIP’s strategic direction and governance. Specifically, you’ll:
Enhance HQIP’s voice and visibility, ensuring our insights reach the right audiences with clarity and impact.
Advise on brand, campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and digital strategy.
Champion the power of storytelling, turning complex findings into accessible, action-inspiring messages.
This is a voluntary, non-executive role, requiring attendance at three Board meetings annually, usually held virtually or in hybrid format. You may also support sub-committees or strategic initiatives. The standard term is three years, with potential for renewal.
What You’ll Bring
We’re seeking a strategic communicator who combines high-level thinking with deep audience understanding.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Senior leadership experience in communications, marketing, public affairs, or branding.
- A track record of delivering impactful campaigns and engagement strategies.
- Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments—preferably in health, public service, or the voluntary sector.
- Skills in narrative development, media relations, digital engagement, and brand positioning.
- A genuine passion for improving public services and a strong alignment with HQIP’s mission.
- Board experience is welcome but not required—we value fresh perspectives and commitment.
Why It Matters
Clinical audit is one of the NHS’s most powerful tools for improvement. But its full potential is only realised when insights lead to action. As a trustee, your communications leadership will help ensure that HQIP’s work informs, inspires, and influences—turning data into better care.
